Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

At SQL Tips (sqltips.in), we respect your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit the website, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Information you send us: if you email us, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you write. Comments published on articles show the name the commenter chose.
  • Log data: like most websites, our hosting provider (Google Firebase Hosting) records technical details each time a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: cookies are small files stored by your browser. We and the third parties described below use them for analytics and advertising. The site also remembers your light or dark theme choice and any articles you save in your browser's local storage; these settings never leave your device.

How we use information

  • To run, secure and improve the website, and to understand which tutorials readers find useful.
  • To reply to your messages and comments.
  • To show advertising, which keeps the tutorials free to read.

We do not sell your personal information.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads on this website.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • Besides Google, ads on this site may be served by third-party vendors and ad networks that Google has certified (see Google's list of vendors certified for third-party ads), and their cookies may be used to serve those ads. You can visit those vendors' websites to opt out of their use of cookies for personalised advertising.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.

To learn more, read how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and how Google uses cookies in advertising.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (through the Google tag) to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are read, how visitors find them and which words are typed into the site search. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives your IP address; it does not tell us your name or email address. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Other third-party services

  • Google Firebase Hosting delivers the website and keeps the server logs described above.
  • Google Fonts supplies the fonts; your browser downloads them from Google's servers, which receive your IP address.
  • Gravatar shows the profile pictures next to comments; your browser loads these images from Gravatar's servers.
  • Articles may include embedded content such as YouTube videos. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website, which may collect data about you under its own privacy policy.

Your choices and rights

  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them, although ads may be less relevant to you.
  • Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete personal information you have sent us, such as a comment, by emailing us.

Children's privacy

SQL Tips is written for students and professionals learning databases. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and retention

We take data security seriously and keep emails and comments only as long as they are needed to reply to you or to keep a discussion on the page. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
